The sizeable garden slopes gently down to a large 8km beach, fairly empty for most of the year. The garden itself is of a "controlled wilderness" type; juniper bushes (a protected species) break the rhythm of the large lawn, and several palm trees will whisper to us from on high with their slender trunks swaying gracefully in the wind. Atlantic Spain? Atlantic Caribbean? It could be either, really. Waves break rhythmically on the sand below, the breeze almost always warm or hot, and what could certainly be said to be heaven. As we walk through the front door, we are already confronted with the sea view and the spacious open plan living room. It is a single storey building, like all beachfront properties in this area, so the ceilings are high, creating a pleasant airy ambience throughout. Carefully selected antiques combine with wicker sofas and sisal rugs to provide a simple but classic décor. Large glass doors open onto a covered terrace that runs the width of the building, the open-air dining area at one end and comfortable seating at the other. Built on one level, with very spacious rooms and terraces. Easy access and perfect location (less than 200m from the minimarket, pharmacy, kiosk and children's playground and only 400m from the stunning Roche beach). Casa Encinar is an excellent choice if you are travelling with children or elderly people. Although it was built only 10 years ago, the house has a charm and atmosphere normally only seen in older houses. The use of weathered wood as well as the traditional whitewashed walls, terracotta floors and typical multicoloured mosaics give it an unmistakable flavour of a traditional Andalusian country house - even though it is located in the centre of a luxury urbanisation (with all kinds of services) and only 5 minutes walk from a stunning beach. The house sleeps 6 (extendable to 7) although the feeling of space from the moment you enter through the pretty courtyard entrance and pass through the kitchen, lounge and large covered terrace evokes a much larger property. The swimming pool has a portable fence that can be put up or not depending on our needs and the rest of the garden is very well kept and enjoys both sunny and shady areas.
