Ayamonte is a town and municipality in the province of Huelva, which is situated in the autonomous community of Andalusia, sitting just on the border with Portugal.
The town is the most western resort in Andalusia on the Costa de la Luz, situated at the mouth of the Guadiana River. The views to the river and surrounding scenery are stunning and Ayamonte is also close to the wonderful beaches of Isla Canela and Punta del Moral.

About town Ayamonte is a modern city, with a working marina, from which you can catch a ferry to cross the Guadiana River to Vila Real in Portugal.
There is a charming old quarter of Ayamonte, with its labyrinth of narrow streets, dotted with attractive plazas, where you can enjoy lunch or a snack in one of the many bars and restaurants.
Places to visit Ayamonte is home to the 15th century Iglesia (Church) de San Salvador with its wonderful Mudejar ceiling. Ascend its tower to enjoy wonderful views to the river and across to Portugal. There is also the 16th century Iglesia de San Francisco.
Close to Ayamonte is the Marismas del Guadiana (salt marshes), an important wetland area, which holds great ecological value. Beaches The nearest beaches to Ayamonte are at Isla Canela and Punta del Moral. Other beaches in the Huelva province worth a visit are Playa del Rompido, San Miguel and Nuevo Portil. The beaches are diverse with beautiful, scenery and pine forests extending to the beach. Leisure Ayamonte offers plenty of leisure activities for those looking for an active holiday. There are plenty of golf courses in the region, plus water sports, walking, sailing and much more.
Climate Ayamonte is blessed with a typical Mediterranean climate, with extremely mild winters and long, hot summer days.
We loved our evenings in ayamonte walking down the marina seeing all the boats coming in. There are some lovely spanish bars and restaurantes that are worth visiting.

this was our first time here and i have already booked again next year.You are spoilt for beached in spain and the lovely sandy beaches in portugal are ten mins away over the bridge.
