Alcaidesa Beach

Alcaidesa Beach is a development located at
the western end of the Costa del Sol, within the municipalities of San Roque and La Línea, in the autonomous community of Andalusia. Alcaidesa Beach boasts a wonderful location, with views from the gently sloping terrain down towards
the Mediterranean Sea. The urbanization combines a mix of full time residents and residential tourism.

Alcaidesa is about one and half hours drive
from Malaga International Airport, an hour and a half from the city of Jerez and just 45 minutes from excellent shopping in Gibraltar.

The town of Alcaidesa retains a certain traditional
Andalusian charm; thanks to an "Architectural Control Committee", the town can grow and change, but only within the strict guidelines, which means that development has to stay within the town’s traditional style.

Beaches
Alcaidesa Beach affords spectacular views to the
Mediterranean Sea and clean, sandy beaches. The beach that is adjance to Alcaidesa has earned a blue flag for cleanliness and environmental
friendliness.

Golf
Next to the beach is the Alcaidesa Links Golf Course, with its stunning views to Gibraltar and Morocco’s Atlas Mountains. The course was
designed and pervades the image of a Scottish Links course, combined with a sub-tropical twist. The course has played host to three PGA championships since it opened in 1992.

Cuisine
The Arab presence made a lasting impact on the cuisine of southern Spain.  Rice, lemons,
oranges, olives and vines were introduced, as well as many new vegetables and spices.

Typical today are barbecued meats, sauces flavoured with cumin or saffron and sweets made with crushed almonds. Tomatoes and peppers are
staple ingredients.

The region is famous for its grilled fish, especially
sardines and deep-fried calamares (squid) and fish baked in salt.

Quality ham and pork are used widely in sausages.  Tapas were invented in Andalusia and a
wide variety of them are still served throughout the region.  Some of the best jamon Serrano (cured ham) comes from the mountains of Andalusia, in particular from Jabugo.

Eating out
In the town of Alcaidesa there is a good selection of restaurants, offering seafood, traditional Andaluz and international cuisines. In the ports of Sotogrande and Duquesa there is a wider selection international restaurants.

Climate
Alcaidesa enjoys an all-year-round mild Mediterranean climate with a good percentage of sunny weather. Summers are not as hot as some
of the other coastal resorts, but Alcaidesa enjoys a microclimate with optimal temperatures in practically every season.

Alcaidesa beach review

Very quiet and mainly residential. I would like to have seen a "local shop" (rather than just a beach kiosk) so that we didn't have to go in the car every time we needed to get something from the supermarket.

Costa de la Luz reviews

Ok but, to be honest, I found it a little "soul-less" - too many Porches, boob-jobs and bling ... and not enough character :-)

Alcaidesa beach review

A nice place, maintenance good, clean and tidy, but at bit deserted; no restaurant, no supermarket summer 2013. Only a small bar/minimarket, a beach snack bar and a farmacia.
