Playa de Rio Real is also known as Playa Pinillo and forms part of a 2km stretch of beach known as Los Monteros.
The beach sits almost mid-way between Playa Alicate and Bounty beach - it is part of Marbella's top ten beach selection.
About Rio Real beach
Its proximity to the centre of Marbella and the beauty of its surroundings ensures that Playa de Rio Real is a popular choice for holidaymakers. It can get crowded in the summer months.
The beach consists of coarse, dark sand and runs for about 400m. It is approximately 30m wide.
Rio Real is part of the 2km stretch of beach known as Los Monteros.
Playa Realejo, Playa Cortijo Blanco, Playa El Ancon and Playa Pinomar are all within easy walking distance and form part of the same stretch of beach.
Amenities
The beach is regularly cleaned and offers a few services.
The beach is home to Marbella's only windsurf club - windsurf Marbella, where you can rent all kinds of boards and have lessons.
There are parasols and sun-loungers for rent. Walking along a bit, you have all kinds of water sports on offer. From jet skis to banana boats.
Parking can be problematic in the summer months. There is very little available. Consider taking a public bus if coming during the peak summer season. There are buses running every 30mins from the centre of Marbella.
Playa Rio Real borders the Rio Real golf course. One of Marbella's more popular golf courses, it offers a hotel, several restaurants and various bars.
The exclusive Trocadero Arena restaurant is situated right on Playa Rio Real. Prices are a little on the steep side - a starter is around 15€, house salad 18€, Paella 18€ pp, fish and meat dishes are around 20€ (day menu), but the food is worth every penny!

Getting there
Playa de Río Real is situated 7kms East of Marbella's centre. Map
From Marbella - take the N340-A7 eastwards - towards Malaga. After 5kms look out for the Torre Real exit on the right - labelled Málaga/Marbella/Torre Real/E-15/AP-7/A-7 - stay rightwards (going through a roundabout) and follow the road down to the beach.
From Malaga - N340-A7 westwards - towards Marbella. Just before arriving in Marbella's centre, just past the Los Monteros Hotel, take the Torre Real exit on the right - labelled Málaga/Marbella/Torre Real/E-15/AP-7/A-7 - cross over the bridge and follow the road down to the beach.
